Campaign Story

Hello, my name is Jakela Baylor Sandoval. I am 38 years old and I’ve been married to the love of my life Rodrigo Sandoval for two and a half years now. We have a awesome little family. My husband is a wonderful father to my awesome bonus/step daughter Julianna. That was actually one of the reasons I fell head over heels for him. I couldn’t wait to one day share a family with him. Unfortunately the very first year of marriage I was given the most devastating news that I wouldn’t be able to conceive.
After the Dr. delivered the news all I could do was weep. I was heartbroken. I had high hopes of one day of holding my own baby in my arms and smelling the scent of his/her hair or how they would look, feel, smell, their smiles and laughter only to be faced with grim reality that it will not happen.
I was 14 years old when I noticed I had painful menstrual cycles. At 15 I was diagnosed with PCOS. The cysts were so terrible they ruptured almost monthly leaving me in excruciating pain. By the time I was 19 years old (2006) I had a 10 pound dermoid fibroid tumor that had to be removed via emergency surgery that lasted 8 hours. As a result I lost my right ovary and I was told conceiving would be difficult however, I had one functional ovary so I held onto hope. Over the span of 16 years I have been going to see multiple specialist just to see if I could get help with having a child only to be told it’s impossible. It seemed like every time I went to my Dr. appointments it ended with me being told I suffered from a new condition. So by 2019 I had another cyst that needed to be removed. However after surgety the dr explained that the removal of a cyst on my left ovary was successful. However, she found endometriosis, adenomyosis, 2 fibroids and I had extremely bad scar tissue. The scar tissue was so terrible it bounded my uterus with my intestine. The scar tissue also caused my fallopian tube to be blocked eventually tge dr had to abort the Surgery. The Dr advised that pregnancy is not possible.
I’m hopeful that someone will read my life story and be touched enough to bless my family and I with this help. It is extremely expensive for fertility medicine and for a surrogate. To have a child of my own is my dream. To be a mother would make my dreams come true. I would like to say thank you for just taking the time to read about my desire to be a mother.
Sincerely hopeful,
Jakela Baylor Sandoval
